Ahhhh, that periode of time, it was possible to do such "crazy" workshop, thanks to participants, that a lot came, and also thanks to people came to share ore open door workshop at the end.

The art of Tongkat , i create,  ahhhh, the art of Tongkat was created by a master : "the STICK". it is "lesson" number 8, among 27 "lesson" that being explored in Tribuana Workshop. in Tongkat work, there are element of meditation, personal stretching, some "kata" (short movement), long "kata" (long movement), movement in group, working on group, mandala-dance-music-sentence (it can becomes song lyric, or story telling),

When stick is considered or treat as "master" then the actor/dancer must follow the "will of the stick", stick itinerary/ stick-determined-movement. I that way, actor must be supple, ready to follow, so like water, to be as fluid as possible in transformation; water take form of it's container. The art of adaptation. Actor is animated by stick/tongkat, actor serves "something", as servant. So work on Tongkat -Tribuana, can give actors the base conditioning to work on mask, for instance. Not the way that actor plays WITH the mask, but the mask PLAYs the actor's vocabulary, physical, musical, and idea.

Now 1st october 2015, being retired, stop doing Tribuana workshop since few years,  I saw myself guiding the workshop Tribuana, ...hmmm, Tribuana guides me, yes, and...... feeling :"silly me";  ah, i feel more as serving Tribuana way than using tribuana way; I always found myself being played and being transformed by the tribuana-way. My Balinese tradition, my parents and ancestors traditional heritage was awaken and in examination during the workshop. And pleasure to share, and to serve others, and try to create together.
